…ich bewache dann mal meinen Briefkasten

längere Zeit habe ich hier nichts mehr wirklich gehaltvolles geschrieben, doch jetzt ist es Zeit ein bisschen über meine zunächst naive, jetzt aber voller Neugier und Vorfreude steckende Begeisterung für ein Gadget der besonderen Art zu schreiben: Ein Tablet, dass es in sich hat. Ein Device, dass in den letzten Jahren, Monaten und Wochen immer wieder  diskutiert wurde und mich seit Oktober letzten Jahres so neugierig gemacht hat, dass ich Dinge tat, die ich normalerweise wohl nie tue, wenn es um Sachen von mehr als 100€ geht: funkymc-Menschenverstand=AUS.

Apple iPad, Samsung GalaxyTab sind auf dem Markt und es war klar, dass dieses Jahr ein Schwall von Tablets auf den Markt kommen wird.

Ich war und bin mir gar nicht klar, ob ich so etwas wirklich brauche (funkymc-Menschenverstand=AUS Teil 1), aber ich hab mich dann einfach mal umgeschaut, was für Rumours so durch das Netz kursieren. Ich kann mich nicht mehr an alles erinnern, aber davon waren bestimmt 50% Geräte, die auf der diesjährigen CES dann gar nicht mehr auftauchten.

Und dann: Ich stolperte über dieses Ding, das seit Jahren in Indien (funkymc-Menschenverstand=AUS Teil 2) erträumt wird: Notion Ink Adam.

Schon im letzten Jahr auf der CES2010 vorgestellt, dann Unmengen photoshopped Bilder im Netz, kleine Demos aus CEO Hand (Rohan rocks!) und dieser Sog der unglaublichen Blogpostings auf wordpress.notionink.com. Eine Community, die wie Jünger den Traum und das Produkt verfolgen und preisen, und die vom CEO so ernst genommen werden, wie ich es bisher kaum irgendwo gesehen habe.

Und ich? Werde mitgesogen! von Features, Design, Sound, Ankündigungen – so cool, ej!

Und dann tue ich es: Ohne das Produkt je gesehen zu haben – ja ohne auch nur ein echtes(!) Foto gesehen zu haben (funkymc-Menschenverstand=AUS Teil 3), drück ich im Dezember auf den pre-order Knopf  (funkymc-Menschenverstand=AUS Teil 4). Und bestelle die teuerste Variante mit pixel Qi screen (den bis dahin ja auch noch keiner so richtig gesehen hat), da das ja besonders cool ist – so von wegen 16 Stunden Laufzeit und eReader-in-der-Sonne-Versprechen (funkymc-Menschenverstand=AUS Teil 5).

Der Bestellprozess selbst ist dann auch nochmal ein “funkymc-Menschenverstand=AUS Teil 6-1000″: Abwicklung über einen Indischen VISA-Karten Dealer, keine Confirmation Mail und sich stündlich ändernde AGBs…

…und? Was denkst Du jetzt von mir? Irre? Dachte ich dann auch!

Mein Optimismus redete mir immer wieder ein: Na gut, immerhin steht der Dollar günstig, ist nicht sooo viel Geld (mein Teufelchen schrieb jedoch immer wieder: “DOCH! ES IST VIEL GELD!!! UND ALLES AUS DEM FENSTER NACH INDIEN!!! MANNMANNMANN…”), und im schlimmsten Fall kann man das Ding bestimmt nem Nerd auf der Gadgetnight schenken… oder so…

Doch jetzt?

CES2011 in Las Vegas

Jeden Tag musste ich im Netz einfach alles aufsaugen, um das offizielle Announcement vom Adam zu sehen. Fazit: POW!!

New job, new experiences, new ideas.

Well, this week was just 5 days long but felt like three weeks – quite a lot of new input, a mountain of tasks and so many new names and terms to learn. Overall my summary is: Great! Such an inspiring athmosphere, a permanent buzz in all corridors and open ears for new ideas! I was directly involved into several discussions and tasks so it was the first week diving into it.

My smart and small team is pretty interdisciplinary including design, QA, usability, test and product management specialists so there is a lot of areas to look into – forces you to keep your mind open! …and I met pickiHH – but that is another story…

So I look forward for more to come – the scoyo learning plattform is very cool and all kids should use it for learning! I am serious!
